so an update.....

everyone has been nagging me to update.....LOL....so here is a quick update. We had an awesome christmas but all the days seem to have rolled into one. We have Dad here, friends from Paris, friends from Canberra, it was our 18th wedding anniversary.......etc etc so it has been busy on the socialising at the Brewin household. I have much to share but at the moment cannot share it. Just to say there will be many changes in the Brewins this year. As I haven't edited any photos I will just leave you with this one......it is my present from my dearest friend

She is so clever, inspiring and always knows just what to get me. The frame she got me is so true......soul sisters. I have quite a few friends, but only a few who are really close, she is one of them. We have a lot in common and like spending time crafting, laughing, plus our kids get on great. Although I have only known her two years it seems like we have known each other forever. She will be a lifelong friend I know it.
So not much else here that I can share anyway......Dad is taking us out for dinner for New Years Eve, so we are all excited about that. Hoping you have an awesome 2011, be back soon.

PS on a more sombre note could you please pray for this precious girl Emma, her family have been through so much & it looks like her tumour has returned. She needs a miracle. You can follow her progress on the above link.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas......& the {real} reality

  • I am only slightly organised for Christmas {well pressies are done, just need to be wrapped & put under tree}, still have to go grocery shopping with all the hoards of people on Christmas Eve.
  • Thanks to some thoughtful people at church, two of the girls are sick, oh what fun!!
  • Am looking forward to Anthony having the whole of Christmas off {first one in 8 years} & my Dad coming up from Canberra {we love our time with him}
  • Am really trying not to miss my family in the USA
  • Realizing that some of my expectations at this time will not be met, am finally getting over it and am setting about starting my {own} family traditions & memories.
  • I LOVE christmas but it is hard to keep that christmas spirit with so many crazy people around
  • Am loving being creative {having the time} to use up some of that material & scrapping stash it always satisfies my soul to create. I have a new crush, it is called "jelly rolls" & "layer cakes"
  • Am treasuring the time with the girls in this beautiful season, soaking up their excitement, wonder & sheer joy at the little things. I am so thankful for them.
Happy whatever day it is!!! LOL

The New Me.....

in style with keeping up with this bloggie thingie as promised, a new way of doing things......bullet points.....

  • busily preparing for Christmas with joy & peace{really trying as we are surrounded by crazy cranky people, I mean come on everyone knows at Christmas time it takes approx an extra 2 hours to get ANYTHING done, get over it, deal with it & put a smile on your face!!}
  • Will the girls notice if I don't do the prepared things like shortbread, gingerbread house & craft, when it is too hot to put on the oven??
  • the girls are turning brown before our eyes, even though it is raining non stop & we are turning into ducks, they still go in the pool cause as Livvy says, we are already wet Mama.
  • have numerous social events to go to, which means "oh no what the heck am I going to wear" as I do not have any excuse for my baby fat, as my baby is now 4 years old!!!
  • making great dinners is not really on my list of priorities while I am trying to organise presents, christmas day food & find something for the girls to do everyday in this rain.
  • has piles of material just calling my name, but the chocolate, couch & Rescue Me wins out everytime.
  • And No girls for the millionth time, Mummy does not have another baby in her tummy!!! {wishful thinking on their part}
  • photos schmotos...........trying to remember to take these, but seriously am not dressing the girls up, make them look decent, when bedhead & pjs are sooo much easier.
  • chocolate is definately a good breakfast alternative........isn't it???

18 Years.........

yes I am not joking (and actually 21 years together) and we are still blissfully happy!!! You know when I met this gorgeous man 21 years ago, I had no idea the path our lives would take. Now here we are celebrating 18 years of marriage. Those years have been full of laughter, tears, travel, babies, ministry, houses, cars, different careers. People have asked us how we do it, that we are one of the few couples who hardly fight, still adore each other & have stayed together. Simply put it is called work & sacrifice.
It is about putting someone else's needs above your own, thinking of someone else before yourself, knowing that small things just DO NOT MATTER, never go to bed angry, always talk about stuff, have a budget (& try to stick to it LOL), family apart from God really does come first, and lots of fun thrown in there. Dont get me wrong we have definately had our times, times when it would have been easier to go our own way, but in spite of it all here we are. We have a joke in our household its called The Brewin Adventures........hold on cause it is surely a ride!!!

How I adore this man. He is so strong & yet gentle at the same time. I love how he is with me & with our girls. He always has time to sit down & listen to us all. (I mean the poor guy is surrounded by eostrogen, that is like 120,000 words a day!!!!). He works hard to provide for us, takes care of all the practical things, but then spends time playing as well. He is always there when I need him, from holding my hand after learning I had placenta praevia and having to have a c-section to telling me to forget the housework, it will be there tomorrow, have some time out!!! So many other things I could say about this amazing man!! But most of all just wanted to say thanks for being the gorgeous man you are (including your faults), I couldn't have asked for anything better, and for the amazing journey that we are on together and as a family of 5. Love you.

Awards, Teachers Gifts, Parties and Holidays.......

so the girls have finished school........yay........but of course before it ends, crazy times. We have had concerts, awards presentation night, breakup parties.........and so on.
Little Miss Georgia got a pretty big award........an academic achievement award & was presented at the night with the whole of the primary school. It was a surprise as we just don't push the girls. As long as they are happy & doing well, that is all we worry about. She is an amazingly capable girl & does great at whatever she puts her mind to. We were very proud of her, not in a way, oh look at her, look at her, but that she tried her best & did really well. Her teacher is amazing & told us that she loved teaching Georgie that she was a delightful, beautiful girl to teach, and that she would really miss her next year. That makes my little heart sing. It is not how well they do, but how they treat people & their character that we worry about!! Here is a photo of her with her award

with her beautiful teacher Mrs Maleham

(they had to go as a Under the Sea character, so Georgie went as Ariel)
Lucia also got a character award. She is such a character, our Lulu. She is the youngest in the class & has maintained all her work at a high standard. Her teacher said the same, that Lulu was a delight to teach & she would really miss her next year, although Lulu is quiet, reserved & very serious!!! LOL
Once again we are only worried about her character & how she treats people.
I am not really into awards being given to younger kids, as I think this is the worlds way of introducing them at a young age, to the worlds idea of success, achievement, expectations & how you should be, but we were very proud of the girls. Here she is with her teacher Mrs Richmond

doing their concert

And with her best friend Gracie

These two are sooo cute together. Gracie is one of the only people that gets Lucia to smile in photos. Gracie went in Israeli costume (they were meant to be in costumes from around the world) but of course Lucia being Lucia didn't want to wear a costume!! LOL.

we also did some teachers gifts (silly Mummy forgot to take photos of one of them) but I had made some journal covers for their prep teachers two years ago & decided I already had a couple cut out I would do those again. They turned out awesome & we bought them a gorgeous pen that said "a very special teacher" and also a journal to put inside. The Teachers assistants I did up some lolly jars with Lindt chocolates in them. They absolutely loved the gifts & the girls were excited as they said they would use them for bible covers if not for the journal.

All in all it was a great end to the year & I am so happy they are on holidays now. We get to sleep in, relax, do all our daily december stuff. It is going to be a SUPER busy couple of weeks till christmas.
I am planning on doing my december daily this year, go here to see what it is all about, so I am taking photos like a crazy woman. As I said this week was a bit nuts, we had our Mum's group chrissy party, had an afternoon with Ruthie, Gracie & Jaz and lots of other stuff, including a big clean up day with Ant while the girls were still at school. Whew a big week. Have to fit some shopping in somewhere as being away overseas sort of put me behind. Here is a photo of Georgie with Jaz (she was soooo excited, she totally keeps nagging me for another baby!!!).......

That's it for me today, we have a big weekend lined up with Carols at Myer (watching Ruthie) and then dinner, then Sunday the big Varsity Carols (praying it doesn't get rained out). Happy Friday.
